A Backyard Wedding in Orangeville- Chantal and Shane

I absolutely love the intimacy of backyard weddings, and Chantal and Shane planned such a sweet celebration of their love at their home. I first met these two in the spring, when I shot their engagement session (which included a very sweet pregnancy announcement!) and I was so excited to join them again in late summer for their wedding day!

These two chose to do a first look at Kay Cee Gardens in Orangeville, which is actually where Shane proposed to Chantal in February. I had no idea about this when I suggested the location to Chantal, but I’m so glad that we were able to incorporate a place with such meaning for them into their wedding photos. And there’s the added benefit of it being a truly gorgeous location for taking photos.

In addition to doing a first look with each other, Chantal and Shane decided to do a first look with their two year old daughter! This was such a cute moment, and I loved that they dressed their daughter in matching cowboy boots with Mommy! I mean, it doesn’t get more adorable than that. After getting some nice family photos I got some very sweet candid shots of the three of them playing on the playground in their wedding day finery. I think candid photos like that add such a fun element to a wedding gallery, I love the thought of doing a non-wedding activity while dressed to the nines for a wedding!

The ceremony was very intimate with only eleven guests, and was perfectly timed with the start of sunset so all the photos have a stunning glow. Chantal and Shane decided to end their ceremony with a tequila shot (water for mom-to-be), just like they did on their first date!

Finally, last year Shane and his dad had built a playhouse in the backyard that resembled the houses on Jellybean Row in Newfoundland, which is where Shane and his family are from. It felt only fitting to take family photos in front of this project honouring their roots.

There were so many clever personal details included in Chantal and Shane’s wedding, which is something I love to see. I am so excited to watch their family grow, and I hope the future holds many amazing things for this sweet couple!
