I’ll say it over and over again, but one of the greatest parts of this job is being able to work with lovely people that I consider friends, and this wedding is a perfect example of that! I met Helen and Karl when I was waitressing at a diner in Georgetown, and they were a favourite couple of all the servers there. These two are so lovely and fun, and even on the worst kind of days they could make me laugh and smile with their infectious energy. I would always remark with my coworkers about how well matched these two are, they truly seem like they found their soul’s mate!
So when Helen reached out to me about photographing their wedding I was absolutely thrilled! And it was especially exciting when I heard that they were getting married at a new venue owned by Helen’s mom in Erin. And what a beautiful venue it is!
I first joined Helen in her mother’s house to photograph her details, and I absolutely loved the airy and spacious home! The details were exactly what I expected from laid back Helen, super cozy and casual while still being absolutely beautiful. I then joined Karl in the guest house, and while Helen was enjoying a chill afternoon Karl was partying it up with his friends. It was so obvious how excited he was to marry his gorgeous bride!
Everyone’s excitement was running high by the time the ceremony came around. I absolutely love the energy Karl and his mom brought as they walked down the aisle together, it’s easy to see where Karl gets his outgoing and personable attitude from! Helen and Karl included such a lovely mix of humour and sentiment in their ceremony, quite a few tears were shed among their friends and family.
Helen and Karl chose to do their portraits after the ceremony and I’m so glad they did because the sun decided to hide away until the two of them got to be alone together (plus me, the professionally designated third wheel). We got such pretty light for these photos, but even if we hadn’t Helen and Karl would have brought their own sunshine. You can see their playful affection for each other shine through in so many of these couples photos!
As you can expect, these two brought the fun for their reception! Amazing food, beautiful speeches, and even a live band kept the evening lively! I especially love that the live band played a lot of classic rock, my favourite genre. I was tempted to join the dance floor myself!
